Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the proposed Slaughter-House to be set up in Sector I-11/4, Islamabad. SAPM on CDA Ali Nawaz Awan, MNA Raja Khuram, CEO PPP Authority, and other concerned formations were also present in the meeting
The meeting was informed that the total area of the slaughterhouse is 8,000 square-foot the indoor coral area would process initially more than 15000 animals per week. CDA has appointed Consultant M/S NESPAK for feasibility study, design estimation with the cost of Rs. 7.00 million. The modern slaughterhouse will have capacity of 2000 small animals (goats) and 800 large animals (cows) per day. The slaughterhouse includes major components such as: freezing room, cold storage, deboning area, packing room, dispatch area, animal waiting area, animal checking & inspection area, chilling rooms, administrative rooms, car parking, tube well and waste treatment area. In the slaughterhouse the larger animal handling will be 500 Nos, the meet production per day from large animal will be 25.0 Tons. The small animal handling per day will be 1800 Nos, the meet production per day from small animals will be 11.25 Tons. Minister was further informed that the facilities like grazing areas, provision of water, and other allied facilities for the animals would also be ensured.
It was decided in the meeting that CDA would provide land for commercial activities to maximize revenue. Further, to fast-track the project as soon as possible complete the bidding procedure.
Asad Umar said that in order to provide fresh, quality, and hygienic meat to the residents of Islamabad this slaughterhouse should be equipped with the latest machinery and equipment. This slaughterhouse is a basic requirement of Islamabad so this project must be completed in line with modern standards and without any delay.
