Member Implementation and Monitoring Planning Development & Special Initiatives

Dr Zahir Shah is serving as the Member (Implementation & Monitoring) at Planning Commission. He is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of major development programs/ projects.

Dr Shah has diverse experience over thirty five years related to planning and development, project management, human resource management and academia. . He has earlier served in the Pakistan Army, Corps of Engineers. He has worked on some key national projects including Chakdara-Chitral Road, Makran Coastal Highway, Salinity Control and Land Reclamation Project (SCARP-VI) and UAE Pakistan Assistance Program(UPAP). He played a key role in the post floods rehabilitation and reconstruction phase during 2010-13 in Swat and merged districts region. Besides he has served at NUST. He been as Dean at College of Civil Engineering and Pro Rector NUST. . He has also served as Surveyor General of Pakistan.

Dr Shah initially served at Planning Commission in CPEC Secretariat, Planning Commission. He was the first CPEC Coordinator/Project Director for over two years during 2014-16, Later he served at Lahore as Advisor (Infrastructure ) to the P&D Board Punjab. He also served as DG M&E, P&D Board, Punjab. He joined Planning Commission in February 2019 as Member I&M.

Dr Shah did his BS from Civil Engineering from MCE, Risalpur. He holds Masters degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and Ph D from MSU, USA. He also holds MS in Strategic studies from NDU Islamabad
