Who we are

Planning for a resilient and prosperous Pakistan

The Planning Commission is a financial and public-policy development institution of the Government of Pakistan, working under the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.

It undertakes research, formulates state policy and coordinates development initiatives that support economic growth and the expansion of national infrastructure in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and other public institutions.

Since 1952, the Commission has played a central role in shaping Pakistan's national development programmes. Its responsibilities have evolved from five-year plans to medium-term development frameworks and oversight of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
