Prof. Dr. Sohaib Hassan

Prof. Dr. Sohaib Hassan serves as Member Private Sector Development and Competitiveness (PSD&C) at the Planning Commission of Pakistan, a role he assumed in November 2024. He leads the design and implementation of inclusive strategies to drive private sector growth and enhance national competitiveness.

With over 15 years of international experience across research, academia, and policy advisory, Dr. Hassan specialises in foreign direct investment, entrepreneurship, export promotion, and the global positioning of Pakistani industries. He collaborates closely with ministries, universities, and private stakeholders to shape both short- and long-term development plans.

Dr. Hassan holds a degree in Economics from the University of the Punjab, an MBA from the University of Leipzig, and a PhD in Innovation Economics from the Max Planck Institute of Economics and the University of Jena. He has also held research fellowships with the German Science Foundation, the Leibniz Society, and the Max Planck Society.
