Dr. Muhammad Asif

Dr Muhammad Asif is working as Chief Health at Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. He is medical graduate from King Edward Medical College Lahore with post-graduation in medicine and nutrition. He has an experience of over 20 years in areas of clinical medicine, medical teaching and public health. His areas of expertise include public health policy, strategic planning, and monitoring & evaluation. He pioneered initiatives which include acceleration and enhancement of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Pakistan for which he developed National CRVS Revamps and Reforms Framework. He is National CRVS Focal Person and Project Director of Strengthening of CRVS System in ICT. This project will pave the way for harmonization of birth and death registration with NADRA and strengthen union councils in registration of marriages, divorce through the revamped system. He also developed Institutional and Policy Framework for Deworming Initiative in Pakistan which is the guiding document and served the basis for deployment of first ever mass level deworming drive in school aged children in Islamabad. The initiative is currently being expanded in rest of the country.
